Have a look at
www.calling-plans.com . It's a nicely laid out site with coverage of
lots of ways to save on phone charges. It's more comprehensive, too, than
lots of phone comparison sites out there since it includes cell plans,
calling cards and the new VOIP technology.
Or,
If you have a feeling that you're spending too much for long distance, but
don't want to go through the hassle of a new signup or changing your long-distance
company, try this:
Go to http://10-10phonerates.com/
and check about a "dialaround" service. You'll just dial a code before
your long-distance call and the call will be billed to your phone
statement. If you like the service, you can program autodialing phones to
do the code automatically for you.
(I really liked the old AT&T; my mom worked for an AT&T company for years;
they did a lot of great things for our country. For a long time, though, AT&T
charged high rates to its most loyal customers -- those who just paid
its rates without ever considering switching. And of course, the company
now known as "AT&T" bears only a slight resemblance to the old AT&T after
all the divestiture and reassembly of phone companies.)
One more note: If you haven't had a look at calling cards lately, you may
imagine they're more trouble than they actually are. Today, with such
conveniences as PIN-less dialing from your home phone, they've gotten
quite easy to use. Our personal favorite here at plainmoney.com is the MCI
calling card.
So: It looks as though there are low long-distance rates for those willing to
shop around, one way or another!
